Enrico Cagnotti, accused of fraud over $ 10 000, appeared on the Maniwaki courthouse Monday.
He said he organized the safety of a festival with Alice Cooper headlining, owned a million dollar Mercedes and the most powerful Mustang. He also presented himself as owner of several luxury chalets in Muskoka and Saint-Sauveur. He said he had bought a watch with diamonds for his new partner.
The trial of notorious fraudster Enrico Cagnotti, which continued Monday at the courthouse in Gatineau, has proved that none of this was at all true. The Crown argued rather that this man had too much imagination and he had fooled his ex-wife by making a good life in Maniwaki for a few weeks, at the expense of his Mrs.
The 54 year old man is well known in Ontario for several frauds which he was convicted. Since 1996, he impersonated an airline pilot, a member of a wealthy crime family, a real estate owner and manager of significant events across the country.
Enrico Cagnotti is none of this. His former wives, who are also victims, vigorously denounced the Internet. It is subject to various blogs.
Belle lives in Maniwaki
It was a day of testimony Monday for the father and the neighbouring cottage of the alleged victim, whose identity we are keeping silent. She had begun a romantic relationship with Cagnotti without knowing his true past. The man dangled the reality of a rich man. He even offered a diamond watch he said had a value of $5,000, but it was false and had virtually no value.
Last summer, during the weekend of Canada Day, her neighbor, Adrian Dwyer, testified to hearing Cagnotti insult the woman. "He cursed, treated her like a stupid bimbo," she told the court.
The suspect reportedly started to renovate the cottage of the woman. The Sûreté du Québec believes that he used money from his victim for this purpose. "This is my fu ... property, "he would shout to Ms. Dwyer, when he was asked to stop cutting the grass and trees at all hours of the day.
