Enrico Cagnotti was credible in his role as a wealthy businessman. His ex-girlfriend , who would be his last known victim of fraud, never thought that the man of 54 years old did not own boat last summer. She had previously had a relationship with a "real" wealthy man in the U.S, and could easily compare the two lifestyles.
The victim and Enrico Cagnotti had known each other on a social networking site before they met in June 2011. Cagnotti, a notorious fraudster posed as a big player in in the field of security, real estate and entertainment - he said he knew many stars -, and today is accused of having extracted more than $10,000 in a few weeks from his victim. The woman had accepted the man in her life, hosting in her cottage in Manawaki at its expense.
Cagnotti, according to the crown, had presented a statement to his wife at the time. The paper, written by hand said that Revenue Canada would pay him $38 million in his account, following a misunderstanding of its money receipts.
Acts of Violence
The victim, a woman whom we will retain the anominity of, is the key witness in the fraud trial of her ex-boyfriend, which continued yesterday in the courthouse in Gatineau.
The woman had explained how violence had seeped into their relationship in a short time, between June and July of last year. In addition to the $10,000 drawn, Enrico Cagnotti had undertaken renovations to the cottage of the woman, using another $6,000 that was not his.
The defense counsel, Nathalie Ferland, received the evidence against the accused on April 27. She requested more time to prepare against examination in light of "new elements" from the testimony of the alleged victim.

Cagnotti, a scam artist with a fertile imagination Posted June 5, 2012 Le Droit
Enrico Cagnotti, accused of fraud over $ 10 000, appeared on the Maniwaki courthouse Monday.
He said he organized the safety of a festival with Alice Cooper headlining, owned a million dollar Mercedes and the most powerful Mustang. He also presented himself as owner of several luxury chalets in Muskoka and Saint-Sauveur. He said he had bought a watch with diamonds for his new partner.
The trial of notorious fraudster Enrico Cagnotti, which continued Monday at the courthouse in Gatineau, has proved that none of this was at all true. The Crown argued rather that this man had too much imagination and he had fooled his ex-wife by making a good life in Maniwaki for a few weeks, at the expense of his Mrs.
The 54 year old man is well known in Ontario for several frauds which he was convicted. Since 1996, he impersonated an airline pilot, a member of a wealthy crime family, a real estate owner and manager of significant events across the country.
Enrico Cagnotti is none of this. His former wives, who are also victims, vigorously denounced the Internet. It is subject to various blogs.

It was a day of testimony Monday for the father and the neighbouring cottage of the alleged victim, whose identity we are keeping silent. She had begun a romantic relationship with Cagnotti without knowing his true past. The man dangled the reality of a rich man. He even offered a diamond watch he said had a value of $5,000, but it was false and had virtually no value.
Last summer, during the weekend of Canada Day, her neighbor, Adrian Dwyer, testified to hearing Cagnotti insult the woman. "He cursed, treated her like a stupid bimbo," she told the court.
The suspect reportedly started to renovate the cottage of the woman. The Sûreté du Québec believes that he used money from his victim for this purpose. "This is my fu ... property, "he would shout to Ms. Dwyer, when he was asked to stop cutting the grass and trees at all hours of the day.
